Ambleside Beach and Park is located in West Vancouver, across the Burrard Inlet from downtown. Ambleside beach is relaxing in any season. You can stroll down the sea wall which goes for 1.2km on a paved pathway and take in the sites of UBC (which directly faces the beach), the Lionsgate bridge (which connects downtown to the North Shore) and of course, the stunning ocean. You can also pack a swimsuit and sandals and walk along the sandy beach during the summer and meet ducks in a small pond along your walk. Walking through Ambleside, you will notice a tall cedar statue called “The Welcome Figure” which was a gift from the Squamish Nation, marking K’aya’chtn (gathering of ocean canoes). This statue was sculpted in honour of the teachings and wisdom of the Squamish Nation elders and it symbolizes respect for the people of the land, the land and animals.
In the summer, pack a lunch and sit on one of the benches to enjoy the view. In the colder months, take an umbrella with you, go for a nice walk and walk over to Marine Drive and enjoy a warm drink in one of many cafes and restaurants.
Ambleside Park has a designated area for dogs and has a playground, a basketball hoop, tennis courts, a skateboard area and a burger joint!
