Green Gables Heritage Place

Green Gables Heritage Place

Cavendish North Rustico, Cavendish, Prince Edward Island
May 1 to October 31 Open daily, 9am-5pm

Green Gables Heritage Place is where you can experience the life of the fictional character of Anne of Green Gables, one of Canada’s most notable stories. Although the story was set in fictional Avonlea, Cavendish is home to the farmhouse that inspired the books, as well as the forests and ponds that inspired places in the novels. Today, Lucy Maud Montgomery’s characters have inspired the creation of the entire village of Avonlea, where tourists can interact with the characters from Avonlea, dress like Anne, and even try some of her favourite raspberry cordial!

What a beautiful site! It is very peaceful when you visit in the off season. I saw lots of wildlife and the paths are so well groomed that it is easy to get around on foot. Everything is maintained well, and there are interpretive plaques around the site for you to learn about the history and current projects happening there!

I am speechless. Visiting here was so fun and breathtaking. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in PEI!

I grew up reading Lucy Maud Montgomery and knew everything about Anne of Green Gables. On top of the books, there was the TV series. I've about dreamt about visiting the house that inspired the books some days and got to see it... twice! Although it was not exactly as I imagined it would be (we don't always get what we see on TV!), I loved it. Especially the garden where many people get married!

I visited the Anne of Green Gables house when I was a kid and it was so much fun! I watched the cartoon when I was younger, so visiting the house was essentially seeing one of my childhood worlds in real life.
