The decks at Canada Place allow tourists to take wonderful pictures of the water and mountains. The cruise lines can be seen at the ports too, great place for relaxation and coffee!

This picture was taken before I start my chaotic work day in a conference held in Vancouver. It fully depicts my everyday life that straddles the fence separating the green and gray of my life. As a pharmacist and Masters student in Toronto, I work to save lives within the depths of the concrete jungle during the week. As an avid skier and nature enthusiast, I long to see the green and blue of nature’s treasures and make my escape to play in Northern Ontario, my Canadian weekend, during the weekend. Even though I was on the other side of the country, I still felt the need to have my little escape into nature – to breathe in the crisp morning air and bask in the glorious colours of the sunrise – before I slip back into the concrete jungle in which the conference takes place. No matter how stressful that day would be, it would have started in its initial tranquil state – with nothing but the chirps of early rising birds, the rhythmic steps of morning joggers and the gentle ripples of the Pacific Ocean to disturb its peace – and it will revert back into that same tranquil state at the start of tomorrow. A rising sun marks the beginning of a new day.
