"Red sky at night, sailors delight"
The ocean brings a sense of calm over me, I feel the power that it wields, and the generosity it provides for so many creatures as a home and playground. Growing up along the coast, in Vancouver, exploring British Columbia’s coast has been a passion of mine for as long as I’ve lived. The ocean, and water is part of who I am as a person. Playing in the waves, surfing breaks, and paddling along are all part of why I love the coast wholeheartedly. There are so many different cultures that rely on the ports and ocean for the livelihood. Exploring the coast and visiting different communities have influences the way I think about the coastline and the environment that we live in and are creating for future generations. Having my coastline and their communities threatened is what brings people together to protect their backyard playgrounds and livelihoods. I want to be able to play in the same pristine waters that my ancestors explored and leave breathtakingly beautiful beaches and coastlines for my children and grandchildren to bask in.
