I met my new friend on the beach at the Esquimalt Lagoon on Vancouver
Island last August.
Although I love my home province of Alberta, I never get tired of the
fresh, relaxed atmosphere of Vancouver Island. Everything seems to say:
“WELCOME”.
During many visits, I’ve learned that islanders respect nature and promote
responsible environmental stewardship. There are so many beautiful parks
and recreation areas to explore – I could never visit all of them in my
lifetime. Every time I return to the island, I feel like I’m sharing a
special national treasure.
Vancouver Island is my center of calm. Compared to all the other places in
Canada I’ve visited, the island has a special draw for me. No matter where
I go on the island, I always find something new, something special, and
something very welcoming.
You can spend a quiet afternoon on any beach and meet a new friend.
Sometimes they’re people, and sometimes they’re not.
