Gaze across the Athabasca River and envision 50 years of fur trading history located at the junction of towering mountain ranges and mountain passes. For almost half a century Jasper House was the main stopping place for fur traders using the Athabasca, and Yellowhead passes, and an important meeting place for adventurers, voyageurs, artists and missionaries. A short, beautiful walk leads you to the Jasper House viewpoint and interpretation panels.

  • The Great Rockies

This is an image of me when I was an adolescent growing up in Canada. I was fairly fond of the mountains when I first moved to Canada in 2006. It is a special part of Canada that makes it unique. My family and I go to either Jasper or Banff every year to experience the glory of the mountains. The Canadian Rockies is something interesting and different about Canada that separates them from the rest of the world. It is what makes us Canadians and what makes us exclusive. That is why I try to visit them every year. So that my Canadian identity doesn't wither inside of me. I am proud to be a Canadian and I love to express it. This picture is with me and my family on a hike in the summer. We stopped at this spectacular waterfall and spectated the beautiful Canadian scenery around us.

This is one of many lakes in Jasper national park. It is beautiful year round. Many other places in Canada including other National and Provincial parks have beautiful sights to see year round.

  • My Beautiful Country
    guestBook Guestbook/ anu918/ Nov 26, 2014 My Beautiful Country

I have lived in Canada all my life. During this time, I have had the opportunity to travel to many parts of the world. I embark on these trips to learn about new cultures, often new languages, meet new people, explore new landscapes and gain a greater understanding of the history of that country. To me, this is a fascinating way to appreciate the vastness of the world that we live in.

I have always said that, "the best part of being away, is coming home." Coming home to Canada. The more I travel, the more I appreciate the freedom that Canada offers. We have the freedom to travel abroad and be warmly welcomed as a "friendly Canadian". We have the freedom to grow personally and professionally without restrictions. There is the freedom to experience the various cultures, religions and backgrounds of the people who live in our country. I believe that this valuable freedom builds an underlying respect for each other, enabling us to live peacefully. This freedom can easily be taken for granted, as I have experienced that not all countries offer their residents the similar freedom that I enjoy by living in Canada. I am proud to be Canadian and to have chosen to live in Canada.
