The sound is like thunder; the sight is awe-inspiring! Take a journey deep below and behind the heart of Niagara, and stand in the mist where the mighty Horseshoe Falls tumbles from 13 storeys above! At Journey Behind the Falls, you'll experience the awesome spectacle of one-fifth of the world’s fresh water crashing down to the basin below.

You'll find Journey Behind the Falls at the brink of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, in the Table Rock Welcome Centre. Take an elevator down 45 metres (150 ft.) through bedrock to tunnels leading to the Cataract Portal and Great Falls Portal, one-third of the way behind the massive sheet of water.

Fun Fact: During summer daylight hours, over 2,800 cubic meters of water thunders over the brink every second, traveling 65 kilometers per hour!

My 2 daughters and I visited Niagara Falls this summer, and we went on a boat tour. I had no idea my 2 year old daughter would have such a great time! My 5 year old liked it, too, but my toddler really, really loved it. We had so much fun, and it was one the most enjoyable things we did on our trip to Ontario from Alberta. My daughter couldn't stop talking about the boat ride, and we brought home a magnet souvenir. Even to this day she will grab the magnet off of the fridge and squeal in excitement about our Niagara boat ride.

Such a cool experience I would totally recommend. Really interesting to see the falls this way.

This is such a cool experience and you get just as close to the falls as you would on the boat. I would not recommend exposing a non-waterproof camera for too long when standing here.
