Library of Parliament

The Library of Parliament is the main information repository and research resource for the Parliament of Canada. The main branch of the library sits at the rear of the Centre Block, on Parliament Hill, in Ottawa, Ontario, and is the last untouched part of that larger building's original incarnation, after it burned down in 1916. The library has been augmented and renovated a number of times since its construction in 1876, the last between 2002 and 2006, though the form and decor remain essentially authentic. The building today serves as a Canadian icon, and appears on the obverse of the Canadian ten-dollar bill.

If only the tour let you grab a book and pull up a chair! You really have to look up, when you go, the neogothic architecture and stained glass coupled with the warm wood (a stark contrast from the rest of the building) is beautiful!

The Library of Parliament is a truly special part of the Parliament Hill experience. It is a time capsule of sorts, as it is the only surviving piece of Parliament's Centre Block. You can contrast this bright room with white pine panelling with the rest of the darker more somber building that was constructed after the fire of 1916. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Library of Parliament is by far the prettiest library that I have ever visited! What a brilliant demonstration of Canada's prowess!

This was my favourite part of Parliament Hill, probably because it was so ornate and old! If you go do not miss out on the room.

No I wasn't since I'm not good at history. There were tons of symbols that were carved. I lost track of the amount!

This is one of those must place things to see at the parliament. Been there a few times and always left in awe.
