Once the city hall for the former town of North York, the North York Civic Centre building was designed by Adamson Associates Architects, and features the Mel Lastman Square along the Yonge Street frontage. In 1982, the building received the Governor General’s Medal for Architecture.
Since municipal amalgamation, wherein North York has been a part of the City of Toronto since 1998, the North York Civic Centre is now home to the North York Community Council, as well as multiple municipal departments and services.
