True continental gateway, the Port of Québec maintains business relations with over 60 countries. Its strategic location is its best calling card, as it provides the shortest route by sea between Europe and the Great Lakes. The advantage of being the last deep-water port with 15 meters at low tide before the Great Lakes is that it allows the port to effectively connect with the industrial and agricultural heart of North America. Featuring a complete and effective intermodal terminal, 27 million tons of merchandises were handled in average over the last five years. The Beauport 2020 project, with the addition of 610 meters of wharf ―16 meters at low tide― and 17.5 hectares, will become a distinctive development space on the St. Lawrence River.
