This photograph was taken at Victoria Park in Kitchener, Ontario. The photograph relates to my Canadian identity because photography has little to do with the things I see, and everything to do with the way I interpret them. When I take a photograph, I am able to express my Canadian identity through art. The photograph I chose was perfect to symbolize my Canadian identity because I spent much of my childhood playing outside, especially in parks. In turn, this influenced my passion for taking landscape/nature photographs. I am able to escape from the stress I face from everyday life from photography. I took up photography in high school because I wanted something to do with my free time. I never thought that I would enjoy photography this much- you should let passion devour laziness. In the photograph, the willow tree frames the main subject- the man taking a photograph of the ducks in the water. The photograph expresses the simplicity and calmness of the park. I feel inspired while taking nature photographs because I love the passion and joy I feel when capturing a perfect moment. Photography is another way I am able to express myself, and something I enjoy to spend my free time doing.
