Guestbook Lac Des Roches - A Fishing LessonA Fishing Lesson
Lac Des Roches is on “Fish Highway,” Highway 24 in BC’s Cariboo. I went fishing here for the first time. The water is cold and clear and you really can see the bottom – until you get pretty deep. The sun seems to shine a little more here and the twinkle off the blue lake is almost hypnotizing. We came to Lac Des Roches for several summers when I was small. I loved it. The dense forest, mostly evergreen, but some deciduous, too rings the lake with only the odd cabin breaking through the trees. By mid afternoon, the sun has had enough time to warm the lake a little. I’m a ‘jump in and get it over with’ kind of swimmer. The cold of Lac Des Roches erupts thousands of goose bumps over my arms and legs. The fish didn’t bite that day. The next morning, waking to the loons calling reminded me that Lac Des Roches, albeit on ‘Fish Highway,’ is special for so much more than fish.
