Open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., from June 4th to September 30th, 2017.

We should really say "aquariums" because there have more tanks than any other aquarium in Atlantic Canada. (But we don't like to brag...) You'll find a whopping 31 indoor exhibit tanks, 21 large and 10 small, some freshwater and others saltwater. (That doesn't include the outdoor pool for the Harbour seals and the seasonal touch tank, oh, and the 150 reserve and research tanks behind the scenes!). With more than 50 families and 100 species in residence, we can't put the whole gang together.

Our experts have created special microhabitats in different aquariums to make each species feel right at home. In fact, the New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Centre, is one of the few aquariums to use real sea water, pumped in from Shippagan Harbour, instead of making saltwater from freshwater as most aquariums do. The aquarium features two main classes of fish : Selachii or Chondrichthyes (skates, sharks and chimaeras) and Pisces or Osteichthyes (bony fish). You'll see everything from mackerel, gaspereau and flounder, to suckers, crustaceans, mollusks and echinoderms going about their daily lives.
