Ardgowan National Historic Site is a gracious home from the third quarter of the nineteenth century. Located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward island, it was the home of William Henry Pope, Father of Confederation. The house stands on the two-hectare remains of what was once a much larger estate which today includes the picturesque house, a small barn/ carriage house, and a garden. The designation refers to the historic portion of the house.

    Absolutely gorgeous. The province offers a lot of information for tourists, and that was a lifesaver for this home. I visited quite late in the year, but was able to learn about Pope and his belief that PEI could become part of Canada, successfully. I'm glad he thought it was a great idea, because I love this corner of the nation!

    Absolutely gorgeous. The province offers a lot of information for tourists, and that was a lifesaver for this home.
