Magnetic Hill

Magnetic Hill

Drive to the bottom of this world-famous hill, take your foot off the brake and be prepared to be amazed. Your car will roll uphill, even as your brain is telling you it's simply not possible! And it doesn’t just work on cars. Vans, trucks and even tour buses roll upward in total defiance of natural law.

Stories about this wondrous place have been around since the 1800s. In 1933 stories of cars rolling uphill without power peaked the curiosity of three newspaper reporters from the Saint John Telegraph Journal. They traveled to Moncton and spent hours trying every hill in hopes of unraveling the mystery. It was only when they stopped to stretch their legs on the way home that the car started to roll uphill. Hours went by before they retried the hills using a variety of equipment to discover the secret. Since then, Magnetic Hill has been puzzling tourists who come from close to afar to experience it themselves. This attraction is a completely natural phenomenon - unique to this area. Is it magnetic or is it magic? You decide.

It's one of those things you have to do at least once in your life, just for the fun of doing it and saying that you did it! According to what I've read, it is all about an optical illusion that makes you think you are actually going uphill. Pretty amazing for the eyes!
