The Native Canadian Centre opened the Native library and reference centre in 1977 to serve the local community and house a special collection emphasizing First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. The library was sold to the Toronto Public Library in 1980 and still contains this extensive collection of Indigenous art, history, literature, story, magazines, music, and government reports.
