Throughout high school I became infatuated with travelling and trying to get as far away from Canada as possible. I ended up taking a year off after high school and travelling around Europe for four months. When I returned from this journey I felt that there was little that could please me back here in Canada. I had just come back from seeing many major, beautiful sights of the world and I was constantly daydreaming of going back to see more. Shortly after returning, a friend of mine convinced me to go on a road trip with her to Banff. While I had been there before, I did not remember the beauty that I was about to experience here in my own country. I found myself falling back in love with Canada all over again. Coming from the prairies and being just a drive away from a place as vastly different as Banff is truly an amazing experience that hardly any other countries can offer. I discovered that I may have found inspiration in all of these other countries but that equal, if not greater, inspiration can be found here in my own country. Not only that, but whether I am in the flat fields of Saskatchewan or in the mountainous scenery of Alberta I can always come home to Canada to feel a sense of belonging. I am excited to discover everything else my country has to offer and continue to find inspiration from the beautiful place I call home.
