Victoria Park
My True Canadian Sport Guestbook Jan 2, 2015This is a picture of me playing soccer that I edited. It encompass 3 key ideas of my Canadian identity.
1.My love of sport; whether its soccer or hockey or even golf. Sports are something that unite us, as Canadians and allow a sense of connection between complete strangers.
2.The ability to adapt. I found that ball in the park and despite the fact that it was torn and seemed useless, my friends and I were able to make nets using water bottles and enjoy a game of soccer. Adapting to my environment is a large part of my identity, as weather changes from snow to complete sunshine in a matter of a day, (on occasion)!
3. The power of a park. The park can make a dull and dark person feel brightened! I play soccer and its the moments where I am simply playing for my love of the sport that most inspire me. I aimed to show this in the image by highlighting myself in black and white, almost to indicate that when I am feeling down, my environment can lighten my mood! I am blessed to be in a country that is so open with so many different places and spaces to play. Whether I am in Toronto or in Calgary or even Quebec City, I always find that I have a connection to the parks. I can go to any park, with a soccer ball and make friends instantly.Being in the outdoors, on a field. that's where I feel a sense of belonging.
Soccer is connected to so many countries, and playing with new people always me to grow an individual and learn about the cultures the world has to offer. I enjoy soccer clearly, and used this picture because I realize the significance it has in shaping my Canadian identity.
