The Saint John City Market is the oldest continuing farmer's market in Canada, with a charter dating from 1785. Located in Saint John, New Brunswick and completed in 1876, the current market building has a unique roof structure that resembles an inverted ship's keel. Made of wooden trusses, the structure was reportedly built by unemployed ship carpenters of the day. Also, the floor slopes with the natural grade of the land. The architecture is in the Second Empire style. Some of the businesses in the market have been operating continuously there for more than 100 years. Facing onto Kings Square, the market is connected to the city's indoor pedway system.

In a town as little and quiet as Clarenville, it is a general assumption that there isn't much to see. However, I think the beauty that can be found here is breathtaking. One of the most beautiful sights here would be the Railway Museum. From the fascinating winter sunsets like this one, to the breezy summer picnics by the ocean, there's always a beautiful view! Aside from the view, this place also holds amazing meaning. It's a sense of belonging for Newfoundlanders because it shows a connection between us and the rest of Canada. It's also an inspiring showcase of our history. Personally, some of my greatest childhood memories took place in this stunning little area. It's because of this monument that I've always been inspired to learn about our history. When you live on a little island that seems so disconnected and far away, a place like this gives a sense of belonging and connection. It's a place that makes me feel Canadian and feel proud to be Canadian. It's where I feel most connected with my culture, my history and my country. Without this place, I don't think I would be the Canadian I am today.
