Shediac is known as the “Lobster Capital of the World.” In 1989, the Shediac Rotary Club decided to create this 35-feet-long, 16-feet-high, 50-ton Giant Lobster that would promote the town’s lobster fishing and processing industry. The sculpture figures as a focal point at the town’s entrance and attracts about 500,000 people per year!
