    guestBook Guestbook Fond memories

As a young woman, years before our paths crossed, the mother of my daughters worked at saving burrowing owls from extinction. I have fond memories of being shown the areas where the colonies were re-established, and I feel proud of her contribution to keeping the planet a happier place for all creatures.

    guestBook Guestbook Mixed reviews

I visited Fort Anne with my family, to mixed reviews from my young daughters. The admiration for the earth works and buildings was palpable, but their questions kept returning to the intent of such a structure. Colonialism is never pretty, or easy to sell to young minds.

My fondest memory of being at "The Bluffs" is a summer picnic with my family, test-driving a portable charcoal bbq. We turned out to be one of many, many families who more or less all had the same idea for that afternoon. I remember exchanging cooking tips and business cards with fellow new Canadians from far and wide. The teacher, the taxi driver, the civil engineer, the civil engineer who drove taxis, we all shared in the joy of having made it to Canada, and of having made Toronto our home.
