Digital Storytelling Contest
Lake Waseosa - Lake Waseosa Guestbook Feb 19, 2015This photograph was taken on Lake Waseosa in Huntsville, Ontario. In this picture, Canada's beautiful and abundant natural resources are shown- seemingly endless water and forested area, filled with lush trees. Another major Canadian symbol exhibited in this picture are the red canoes. The canoe is iconic in Canadian identity, linking First Nations and voyageurs. The canoe has shaped Canadian history, and it is now something that citizens can do recreationally, in order to connect with nature, but also to connect with ancestors who shaped the land with their canoes. I think this photo represents Canadian pride, the calmness of this image reveals a place where everyone is welcome, as well as a peaceful place where you can be one with nature.

Trent University
Trees Guestbook Feb 19, 2015This is a photograph of a Tamarack tree at Trent University, in Peterborough, ON. Through this photo, we get a sense of Canada's beautiful natural resources. The abundance of trees here provides clean air for those in Canada, as well as homes for wildlife. The different colours in the sky through the tree branches also add to the natural beauty of this photo. By acknowledging that this picture was taken at a university in Canada, we see that students here have the opportunity to learn beyond classrooms. Students are able to go out in nature and explore the trees and wildlife right in their own backyard. That's what Canada is all about.

Places of Change Contest
Pioneer Village - Red Fife Guestbook Feb 18, 2016This photograph of David Fife's cabin was taken at Peterborough's Pioneer Village. David Fife discovered a variety of wheat that forever changed agriculture in Canada, known as Red Fife Wheat. Pioneer Village is a place where community members can connect with their roots and history. For me, this means connecting with the history of my great-great-great-great uncle David Fife.
