As the sun sets we find our self's at the end of the day. With the sun dipping to touch the horizon and the light rays of the sun mixes with the bittersweet darkness; we find ourselves reliving the moments the days laid upon us. We relish in all the good and we overthink the bad. And as you watch the day come to an end, you think about tomorrow. How tomorrow will await with more surprises for you, more unexpected adventures and even more unexpected challenges. Its just the start of another ending. An ending to receive an even brighter beginning.

Dramatic cliffs rise from the turquoise waters of Georgian Bay. In large tracts of forest, black bears roam and rare reptiles find refuge in rocky areas and diverse wetlands. Ancient cedar trees spiral from the cliff-edge; a multitude of orchids and ferns take root in a mosaic of habitats. And the night is brilliant with stars in this Dark Sky Preserve.

Do you ever imagine a place with crystal clear water and a place with gigantic rocks that are shaped like flowerpots? If so, Tobermory is the place to be. It is truly one of the most remarkable places I have ever been to. The boat ride from the harbour to the flowerpots is quite the journey. When I went, it felt like I was on a trip to find hidden deep-sea treasure. During the ride, my family and I came across a sunken ship and we could see it so perfectly because the water was so clear. There was an opportunity to scuba dive, but it was too cold that day. In fact, it was a rainy day which made it all the more adventurous. When we got to our destination, we had to hike in the mud to get to the rocks! It was hard but I enjoyed every minute of it. When we got to the rocks and the water, it was truly breathtaking. The water was glistening in the blue sky and I had to stop myself from jumping in. The flowerpots (which were the massive rocks) were also amazing because it seemed like someone from hundreds of years ago carved them. The 5 hour trip to Tobermory was absolutely worth it because I got to experience a spectacular boat ride, and saw a sunken ship, as well as saw the clearest water I have ever seen in my life. One day, I will go back there to scuba dive and possibly find some missing treasure.

Every year my family visits Tobermory during the summer holidays. While there we enjoy swimming in the Grand Basin, then being ferried to Manitoulin Island by the Chi-Cheemaun. This will always be my favourite summer time trip.

I immigrated to Canada from England, and I immigrated to England from Bangladesh. In truth, I never felt as if I didn't belong. Wherever I lived, I adapted. I felt like a true Canadian long before I received legitimate citizenship.

However, it was on this trip boating across strikingly blue waters, with the sun beating down on my face, the freshwater spray in my face, and a cool, unpolluted wind in my hair that I truly felt the magic of Canada. Perhaps national pride is a strange thing to feel during summer vacation in a little community like Tobermory. But I couldn’t help but feel an unbridled joy for what I felt was a true Canadian experience given to me by my country: to be jetting across the cleanest waters I have ever seen to hike across a pristine island with fellow Canadian tourists of all nationalities. As an immigrant and an avid environmentalist, this is my Canada.
